This sculpture series (10 total) was created between 2002-2004. I aimed to depict uterine forms squeezed in impossible ways. They symbolize the manner in which women are pressured into conforming to impossible physical standards of beauty. They refer to the vignettes of appearance which women are expected to manufacture and maintain while living in the world. They also reflect the distortions women undergo both physically and psychologically as they contend with social expectations.
